Amsterdam & Belgium | March 2018

Ever get that feeling when you arrive home from vacation and are totally overwhelmed by the amount of photos you have to sort through, edit and share? That's me right now.

A couple weeks ago, Jake and I arrived home from an amazing family trip to Amsterdam, Belgium, and Iceland. My father and I had been planning a trip to Belgium for years, following a "we need to go there" moment while watching the 2008 black comedy "In Bruges." Seriously - we planned a trip to Europe because of some scenes we saw from a Colin Farrell movie (which was ironically centered around how much Farrell's character disliked the city!)

This trip has been a father/daughter bucket list item for a while, so this year we finally made it happen! When planning, we decided to tack on a visit to Amsterdam, before heading to spend a week with my brother and his wife in Bruges and Brussels. Jake and I added a stopover in Iceland on the way home, too (I'm saving those photos for another blog post - there are just too many good ones!).

I feel so fortunate to have been able to take a trip like this. Here are some of my favorite images from the Netherlands/Belgium portion of our trip. These were shot on a Canon 5D Mk ii and iPhone 8+.

Note: This first gallery includes images from our time in Amsterdam. We stayed in a lovely hotel on the Herengracht canal in a beautiful part of the city. We were a bit too early for tulips, but enjoyed some great weather anyway! The last three images in this gallery are from a day trip to Giethoorn, a tiny Dutch village that is accessed by canals instead of roads - it was super charming!

This next set of photos were taken in Bruges, Belgium. This delightful city is filled with amazing, old homes, canals, and monuments to history around every corner. We stayed in an airBnB in the center of town and enjoyed walking everywhere. We also enjoyed lots of beer and chocolate - Belgium is great! :D
