Wanted to share some photos from my walk around our neighborhood tonight. Enjoy!
Last weekend Jake and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to see Niagara Falls and get away from Pittsburgh for the weekend. Some (most) people called us crazy for visiting Canada on what was arguably the coldest weekend yet this winter, but we were determined to see the falls in all of their icy, snow-covered glory.
Needless to say, they didn't disappoint. The falls were just as jaw-dropping as I thought they would be, plus the winter weather meant there were no lines and barely any tourists to push our way through (bonus!). We especially loved doing the journey behind the falls, where you could explore the tunnels behind the falls and see all of the foliage covered in layers of ice, as well as the freezing water dropping down in front of us.
Based on many recommendations from friends and family, we decided to stay the night at a B&B about 30 minutes north in Niagara-on-the-Lake. If you're ever looking for a place to stay up there, I couldn't recommend our B&B more. The Queen Regent is a beautiful old heritage home that has been lovingly remodeled by its owners, Amanda and Brandon, who live on the lower levels of the home with their family. Amanda was so kind and helpful - we visited both the restaurant and winery that she recommended to us and had a wonderful stay overall (she also provided us with a killer homemade breakfast buffet the next morning). Our room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable - perfect for a place to warm up after walking around town all evening!
NOTL and Niagara Falls were both so much fun to experience, and we really enjoyed our overnight getaway. I had some fun taking photos around the falls and at our B&B, so I decided to share them below. Cheers!
It's been a while since I shot film. Having the luxury of being able to take my phone anywhere/everywhere made me lose the patience that film requires. I do, however, keep my old Nikon FM-10 sitting on a shelf in my bedroom, so when I was packing my bags for my Halloweekend trip to NOLA with two great friends, I knew I wanted to bring it along and give it a shot again (plus - that meant I didn't have the hassle of lugging my DSLR and lenses)! These shots were scanned and processed by indiefilmlab.com - I can't recommend them enough!
I love, love, loved New Orleans. I'm a total house geek: I browse Zillow on the reg, love touring home gardens and discussing curb appeal, so strolling down the residential streets in New Orleans was really a treat. I would go back to this amazing Louisiana city in a heartbeat. Most of these photos were taken in Uptown and the French Quarter. Comment if you want to know where any of these were shot, or for anything else. Thanks for looking!
It's always a pleasure to photograph people who are truly in love. Katie and Joe are two of those people. Last week, on the heels of Katie's upcoming move to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career, Katie, Joe and I headed to North Park for a golden hour shoot with their darling pup, Chloe. The photos are for Katie to print and keep with her in LA to remind her that home isn't as far as it seems. We had such a fun time, check out the photos below!
